First Lil Wayne tries his luck with Twitter, then a brief foray in video blogging, now the multi-platinum artist lands a deal to write a series of blogs for ESPN The Magazine. If Weezy’s first post is an indication of the series, expect to see a mixture of his sports analysis, fantasy football tips, and personal sports experience (Can you believe little Wayne played fullback?).
It’s clear that ESPN has given Wayne the latitude to blog about whatever is on his mind. His posts are unmistakably written in his own words, a far cry from the professional writers you normally get from other ESPN blogs. I have heard from mixed reviews on is writing speech to paper writing style, but I find it authentic.
What I find most interesting about the Lil Wayne ESPN collaboration is that Disney, parent company of ESPN, would risk the brand association with Lil Wayne questionable lyrics, and past infraction with the law. If you have had the opportunity to work with ESPN or any company that falls under the Disney umbrella, you know how strict they are about who and what they choose to align their brands with. ESPN is obviously betting that reward of new readers will outweigh the risk of disenfranchising old readers.

I’m not going to lie. I’m surprised at his writing skills. LOL.
I was ready to cringe like I did when I read the blog of another rapper.
Sorry Wayne

I can’t wait to hear what he has to say about sports especially football. And he does not look anywhere close to a fullback, believe me he chose the right profession.

Im proud of this dude… i cant belive the brand aloud Weezy to align themselves with him . I would be even shocked at how they would oust Kanye west let alone Lil Wayne.
But honestly … his writing can be edited , and besides the dud does know sports. I don’t think they will be letting him write about things he does not know about
i am proud of weezy…. he has proved that hip hop publicity does in fact work for rappers.

Weezy writting a blog?!? Come on… Why? I am glad he got the deal with ESPN to the do the writting. However, this guy can hardly speak well then they want someone body to read what he wrote.
I’ll check out his couple of his post and if he starts repeating the same words over and over and over again like he raps its going to be a short writing contract.

I wouldn’t know if he repeats his raps or not. Half of the time I can’t understand him. (Tempted to buy the album to see if it’s actually him or radio edits.)
