Acclaimed movie Director Spike Lee has made yet another move to affirm his faith in New Media. Spike’s Advertising and Branding Agency, SpikeDDB, has partnered up with Goldmic.com, a social network for up and coming hip-hop artist. It’s unclear whether the deal was for advertising, branding, or both, but it’s interesting to see what effect Spike’s agency has on Gold Mic, whose traffic has been a bit stagnant until recently.

If you recall Spike also partnered up with Nokia, to direct what is being dubbed the “the world’s first social film” comprised solely of videos made with cell phone footage from everyday people.

Might make sense for advertisers to focus on local and (or) niche markets and sites. Interesting partnership for Goldmic. Let’s see how it evolves.
