Some of you may remember Krista from when she contributed for Black Web 2.0 or other random place throughout the social web.  Krista actually works for Lenovo.com as the Web Video Marketing Strategist.  She tells us more about what she does there and a little more about herself, like I bet you didn’t know she DJ’s in her spare time!  Check it out:

BW2.0: Thanks for taking the time to participate!
What exactly do you do at Lenovo?

Krista: I am a Web Video Marketing Strategist
Krista: So I’m responsible for all rich media on our public site, Lenovo.com as well as our YouTube account.
BW2.0: Very cool, you mentioned you just moved into this role in another conversation we had, what were you doing before?
Krista: Prior to this role, I had web marketing responsibility for our desktop, software, and peripherals brands on the public site. So that includes strategy, writing copy, getting photography, and so forth.

BW2.0: Cool, sounds like you have been at Lenovo for a while, how long total?
Krista: Twenty years this year. That includes my time with IBM prior to the PC division being sold to Lenovo in 2005
BW2.0: WOW
Krista: Yes I’m considered an ‘old timer’
BW2.0: LOL
Krista: Went to IBM straight out of college

BW2.0: Speaking of college you are getting a graduate degree correct?
Krista: Yes, I started the Master’s in Integrated Marketing Communications program at West Virginia University last fall
BW2.0: How is the program going?
Krista: I just love it. The faculty either currently work in the Marcom industry or have prior experience, which is awesome. Also I have classmates who work in marketing for everything from church denominations to higher education to having their own agencies.
BW2.0: That’s great! How much of the program is dedicated to interactive marketing?
Krista: Its covered in every class, but about 30% of the classes are dedicated to interactive.

BW2.0: You have been at IBM/Lenovo for so long what big changes have you noticed as far as diversity in the workplace there?
Krista: You mean changes from IBM to Lenovo or overall
BW2.0: I mean throughout your time at “both companies”
Krista: Ah ok
Krista: First of all the number of blacks executives in the lines of business (ex. brands, R&D etc,) and over my 20 years I’ve seen that filter down to the rank and file…it is no longer a ’shock’ to see a minority in say, marketing, or IT, whereas when I started working your reaction might be like “WOW!”
BW2.0: Right, that is good to hear! Based in NC and good to hear it is a diverse workplace
Krista: I mean there is still a lot of room for improvement.
BW2.0: LOL
Krista: Keeping it real, you know.
Krista: I would like to see greater diversity among the executive ranks still, specifically with African-Americans and Latinos
BW2.0: Yes I’m sure, slowly but surely we hope :)
Krista: Yes, I often wonder if/when Barack Obama is elected president, if there will be this sudden flood.
BW2.0: ROFL, I think we are all waiting for that!
Krista: LOL

BW2.0: So what cool new stuff can we expect from Lenovo, your new spots are really funny, anything else like this coming up?
Krista: Thanks. We now have an “in line” video player on Lenovo.com in addition to our LenovoVision video player. This allows us to play the product videos right on the product pages, instead of linking to the LenovoVision player only. We also added a ‘filmstrip’ function similar to what you see on YouTube, where related videos are featured in thumbnails below the clip that’s currently playing.
Krista: Also check out our “Olympic Podium” site where we had 100 Olympic athletes currently blogging about their experiences prior to and during the games. (Shout out to my colleague Alan White who built that portal.) www.Lenovo.com/Voices
BW2.0: Wow that sounds awesome, I will definitely check that out, I am sure our readers will as well
Krista: Yes we gave each blogger a Lenovo notebook and a Flip Cam

BW2.0: I am going to go right into some fun questions now
Krista: Ok
BW2.0: What is your fave past time, excluding Internet activities?
Krista: Spending time with my 3 year old nephew is number one for sure.
Krista: I also DJ as a hobby, and I love to travel…have beach and sun, will travel

BW2.0: How many devices/gadgets/gizmos do you own (estimate)?
Krista: LOL, counting
BW2.0: LOL
Krista: 8

BW2.0: Fave feed reader?
Krista: Google Reader hands down

BW2.0: ok last one, describe your geekdome (LOL) in one word?
Krista: Man that’s tough
BW2.0: LOL
Krista: Okay, how about - ingrained!
BW2.0: Luvs it! ;)

Krista: thanks for the opportunity girl!
BW2.0: Thank you! ;) TTYL!
Krista: Krista: TTYL!
