If you haven’t heard yet the 2009 SxSW Panel Picker is open. If you are not familiar with SxSW you can find out more about it here or learn more about when we went last year. The the conference organizers at SxSW use the Panel Picker to allow attendees to program the type of panels they would like to see or attend from literally hundreds of submissions from speakers on a variety of topics. Voting will close at 11:59 pm Central Standard Time on Friday, August 29.
You can also vote for a panel we submitted titled “Digital Urbanites: How to Become Part of the New Social Capital“ The formal description is below:
Social capital online is like the stock market, users build portfolios of vast profiles. Include your voice in varying points-of-view about where urbanites are brokering their social capital online, how they will use it in the future to dominate the digital landscape, and why they are the latest hot commodity.
In this panel we will discuss just how much weight “digital urbanites” carry online across various social networking platforms and how this type of influence can change where, how, and why people interact socially online. When we speak about Urbanities we speak more to the urban cultural experience which may include race and/or other cultural experiences associated with the term Urban; it is certainly not limited to those examples :). You can expect to hear from a wide range of voices on this panel as well.
If this panel is something you would like to see you can vote for us here, if not still vote for us because WE LOVE YOU ;) Outside of this post you can use the badge on the right to access our panel and others for your voting pleasure. Hope to see ya there!
