Did you have trouble getting on Rushmore Drive this morning? Well you weren’t the only one; it seems as if after Johnny Taylor, CEO of Rushmore Drive, appeared on the Steve Harvey Morning Show, drones of users flooded the site slowing it to a near crawl for most of the morning. The interview also subsequently led to Rushmore Drive being the #1 most Google(d) term according to Google Trends.
The surge in traffic caused by the Steve Harvey Morning Show, in particular the traffic from Google, reminded of the uphill battle Rushmore Drive faces as they attempt to get a piece of the search market share. I mean, isn’t it ironic that it took a search engine to find a search engine? What do you all think? Can Rushmore Drive capture enough of Google’s search market to become profitable? And if so, how?

Its pretty sad that Black people think they need to type in Google to get to http://www.rushmoredrive.com. Brother Taylor said the site’s name 20 times on the radio and people still typed the name of the site into Google to find him. So Im not sure its fair to say it took Google to give them traffic. It was Steve Harvey who drove the traffic; our people just dont know they couldve gone directly to the site. Will they succeed? I think so if we, Black people, do all we can to support the site. I made it my home page and default search. Did you?

using Google to find a domain name is common net practice. It’s not a black thing.
