MTV features Black Professionals in Games
by AngelaI mentioned this briefly in a post earlier, I was pleasently surprised when I came across this series on MTV’s Multiplayer blog. I just wanted to take a moment to big-up Multiplayer for even doing this series. I also wanted to share a little on each person they have featured thus far:
N’Gai Croal Talks Stereotypes, Finding Video Games’ Spike Lee
“I’ve gotten e-mails from black students… who’ve said that it was inspiring to them — to see my photo on the blog and read my stuff.”
‘Tomb Raider’ Producer Morgan Gray On Diversity, ‘Resident Evil 5? and The Problem With Cole Train
“African-Americans are big consumers of [video games]; they should take a role in making them.”
Nerjyzed’s Brian Jackson On The ‘Black College Football Experience,’ Developing Urban-Only Titles
“I came up with a game called ‘Hip-Hop Kings‘ …back in 1998. EA, I don’t think, was ready to do a game like that.”
Sony’s Felice Standifer On Gender, Race And Positive Images
“I’m not sure if it’s an advantage, but… I do definitely stand out.”
Midway’s Shana Bryant On QA And Who She Was Counting At GDC
“There were times when I felt… that just because I was a “girl,” I couldn’t play games or test games or lead a team of guys.”
Please stop by ad support, there are some great articles there as well.
