Socialthing! the next big thing

by Angela Socialthing! the next big thing

The other day I had a nice surprise in my inbox, a private beta invite to Socialthing! I first came in contact with Socialthing! at this years SxSwi. Though I recognized the name I wasn’t quite sure what exactly they did, a quick stop to their website answered the question.

Socialthing! keeps track of all of your friends in social networks that you belong to. Users have the ability to look at all of their networks at-a-glance and even post across all of their networks with one update. Not to mention the sites simple and clean interface de-clutters the mass of information that is streamed in from your networks.

While the site offers a buffet of services that can be added to your Lifestream I did find once that was missing…BlackPlanet. Don’t get me wrong I don’t frequent BlackPlanet often, though many of you know that I do still have an account there, however if rated #6 social network there should be no reason why it is not included. Socialthing! does allow you to add services though and I took it upon myself to add BlackPlanet to be considered for inclusion.

Of all the services that are available i only tried out a few in my stream: facebook, Twitter, and Flickr. I am desperately trying to reduce the amount of tabs I have up in my browser window (I am in Tab rehab) so I am sure I will be no stranger to Socialthing!. Socialthing! is in private beta however Black Web 2.0 was cool enough to get some invites for our readers. Click here to test drive Socialthing!

Next up from Socialthing! is connecting you with your friends across services, personal profiles, and syndication of your own personal Lifestream.

  • Interestingly Plaxo had tried to integrate this capability as well a few months back. Not sure how successful they have been in terms of adoption. I think they were already off on the wrong foot being more of a professional networking tool. My prediction is that just by virtue of the name of this service - SocialThing! it will gain a significant level of adoption among folks like Angela , myself, and others who like to mix it up socially and professionally.
