Six Apart’s blogging platform Movable Type has officially gone open source, now allowing developers to freely modify, customize, and use Movable Type for any purpose they choose. This move, though much anticipated, may come a bit too late. MT’s number one competitor, WordPress, which is the largest self-hosted blogging tool in the world, used on hundreds of thousands of sites (including this one), and seen by tens of millions of people (including you), has been open source for years.
