I am always excited to see web technology articles from Black content providers and when I came across a short article by Brent Leary on Black Enterprises’ website title “Hard Facts About Blogging” there was no exception. The article itself had some good tips for new bloggers, here are some of the highlights:
- Figure out who your target audience is and where they hang out on the web and begin a linking campaign.
- Begin commenting and interacting with the people who frequent these sites to begin building a reputation.
- Be patient with finding your voice and a style that will enable you to stand out.
- Before you begin blogging check out the popular blogs in your field and really study them.
The article goes on to discuss how blogging can benefit small businesses and why it should be incorporated into marketing strategies. Check it out if you get a chance, if not for the advice then to let BE know you are interested in more content like this.

Thanks for kind words Angela. And for the helping to promote this kind of content. I’ve been writing my weekly column for BE.com for a few months now and I’m really happy that there is a great deal of interest from the black business community in learning more about Web 2.0, social media and all the rest of what’s going on out there.
Keep up the great work with this site and please keep me informed on the BWB conference. Living in Atlanta and being a “brown blogger” I am definitely interested.
Thanks again!

Great article Brent. I would just like to add one more point. You must “Love what you blog”. I am leery of businesses/people who just blog to say that they blog. Most of the time the content is crap, not because there bad writers, but because it’s more work than fun! If you don’t like it, don’t do it!
